What you are NOT seeing in the picture is that the top part of the tie is solid black. The snowflakes stop abruptly right at the point where the tie is folded over in the picture. I still like the snowflake pattern. It's holiday-ish without being too tacky. But having 4-5 inches of solid black at your neck/chest looks a little odd.Other than the pattern, the tie is decent quality. It's definitely not a smooth silk tie but I wouldn't want to pay for that in a gimmicky holiday tie anyway.
